And so it begins…

So, today I decided to start a Blog, not unlike it seems, the entire free world.

After searching the internet far and wide, researching for tips from the pro’s on how to set up a Blog, how to successfully write a Blog, how often to write in your Blog, I discovered one major theme across them all.  Have a specific direction or idea.  Have a topic or a purpose.

They say don’t write about your love of birds, write about a specific bird but you see, I don’t have a bird, most definitely not a specific bird.  I know a little but not a lot about all of the animal kingdom and I also find all of it equally fascinating and worth expressing thoughts and opinions about.

So let’s get to specifics, boiling it down to a theme, this was a problem.  Yes, I say was because I found the common theme, my bird, my love of writing.

Where to begin?  What to do with this passion of mine for writing?  I want to share my current directionless journey, right from the beginning, through a Blog on how I attempt to share my thoughts and ideas with the world through writing.

So I will Blog about my journey towards becoming a published, read author/writer/blogger, while sharing my self, my musings, thoughts, books and papers with you along the way.

Hopefully together we can walk away from this journey enlightened and successful or in the very least, better acquainted.

Welcome to WordPress and the blogosphere. If you read too much about the art of blogging, that is, what will and won’t make your blog a world beater, your head will surely explode. I blog out of an enjoyment of and a desire to express myself in writing. I believe that the key is to enjoy yourself and keep writing.

I thought I had nothing worth writing about when my friends stated encouraging me to blog. Because I took their advice, I now know I have plenty to share through writing and have met many more friends.
Keep at it & best of luck!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. Friends are such great sources of empowerment (well the right ones anyway!). I look forward to getting to know many more through my blog. Take care!

I just started blogging myself as well. I’d like to consider myself tech-savvy but this has been a bit confusing at times. Oh well, slow going and ill have fun while doing it. Good luck to you!

Hi… Just a few thoughts. Some feel comfortable writing about a specific topic ‘birds’ crafting ,, photography etc. but many incorporate them and write insightful thoughts and writings and poetry etc. And then some including me decided just to write whatever was on my mind and heart to do….I started writing for me and not really for others ….but it’s great along the way if others like what I write…I have made some wonderful friends and learned so much also. So write what you feel, what interests you and you’ll know what’s right…I’ve been blogging since Nov. 2011 and it was tough learning the processes…If I can help you along the way or point you in the right direction for help…feel free to ask…..Diane

Aloha and howdy and welcome to the WordPress blogging community. I brought Fruit Cake. 😉 (It’s the same one somebody gave me for starting my blog a number of years back, but shh, don’t tell them that.) First, thank you for stopping by my little slice of the web, I appreciate it a great deal. Second, just be yourself and speak your piece. People will flock to good, honest writing, no matter the topic. If it is about birds, squirrels, oil changes, or a love of Topographic Maps, if it is written well, they will come.

I don’t like fruit cake but thank you anyway and I won’t tell! Thanks for passing it along.
I always like to share myself with my readers.
Best of luck to you and keep in touch!
      Jennifer

Thank you for liking my poem and visiting my blog… I’m an artist as well and teach painting and photography beside poetry. I’ve been engaged in lots of video poetry lately, art is a wide river indeed!
I like your intro, your picture and… your curtains, they looked familiar, got the same ones in my living room, except that I cropped mine small and flat…. LOL!!!

    • writingsofamrs

      Anna,
I have been thinking some about video poetry. Do you have it linked into your blog? I will check it out if so!
The intro was the easy part (and thank you by the way), directing this blog has been a little more challenging, it seems to be off on a poetry run, when I only started writing poems last week, go figure!?
You have impeccable taste in curtains! 😀
      Cheers,
      Jennifer

      • anna mosca

Hi Jennifer 😀 love your feedback on curtains!

Take your time for the blog, things will start rolling… I’ve been writing poems for years nonetheless when I wanted to start my blog on poetry it took me a long time!

I’ve posted a video poem just today, from there, while accessing YouTube you can see on my channel moscanna1, seven more posted.

These video sprung from a few projects, no room to explain here LOL. So far the pictures used are from my students cause I want to give them
opportunities. We are also working on a collective blog called Luminesia please read the Project page before viewing the blog 🙂

        Enjoy roaming around,
        cheers to you

  9. Biggie

Welcome to the blog world. Yes you will want to write about a specific topic but believe me, blogging is more about what comes to your head, the observations around you etc. It is fun. I ramble about everything in my blog. Hope to see more of your stuff. We all love reading each other’s work despite the chosen subject or topic.

    • writingsofamrs

      Biggie,
I know! I am interested in so many things and there are so many topics to explore, it’s distracting!
Thanks for taking the time to comment and to visit.
      Cheers,
      Jennifer

Thank you for reading my post “If it’s not one thing, it’s your mother”! Like you, I am trying to sort out what to say, not to say, and ending up exposing too many broad thoughts, but hopefully sharing just the right amount. Good Luck!

Congratulations. A blog is a good place to find your voice. I loved the book “Bird by Bird” by Anne Lamott. A great book about writing! Thanks for checking out my blog!

  13. Livonne

Welcome to the blogosphere!.. This really is a great way to find your voice and new friends all at the same time. Just follow your heart.. You will find your own direction eventually. I write about life in general and as we all know, that covers a multitude of sins lol. Enjoy 🙂

Seems that if we are not kindred spirits at least we are on the same journey! I find my love of words, my love of putting together thoughts, and my love of “musing” mirrored here in your blog. I look forward to what is to come–for both of us!

  15. elizasarahgraham

Your journey is not directionless, as you clearly know what you want to do and…you’re doing it. Write from your heart and people will “hear” you.

Thanks Jennifer for visiting Life’s Little Surprises. I’m excited for you stepping out into unfamiliar territory. Keep moving forward and all will be well. I write because I love to. Blogging is helping me become a better writer. I enjoy meeting people through reading their blogs and them reading mine. One day I will write something besides blogs. But in the mean time I’m blogging away. Blessings. Emma

      So true Beverly,
The community of bloggers has been so supportive and I have made some good friends through this journey. If it ended tomorrow I think I have already achieved the fulfillment that I was hoping to gain from this experience.
      Thank you for sharing.
      Continued success to you,
      Jennifer

      Hi Melanie,
Because your new ( I am too, I only started on April 1st ) I feel that I should give you this piece of advice. Bloggers often do not like it when you leave your blog address or post address. It comes across as a form of spam. If people are interested in your comments they will click on your name to go to your blog. I don’t mind but others might.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.
      Jennifer
