The Impossible. A movie review?

I am a big movie buff. I would even go as far as to say that I prefer to watch a movie over reading a book. *gasp*. I love the big screen, the loud sound and watching writers words and tales come to life! I also love eating unhealthy, yummy, buttery popcorn. It’s the little things in life right?
The Impossible. Have you seen this movie? If you haven’t you really should. I highly recommend it. I have to say that I have never been more moved or touched by a movie. It might be because I watched it snuggled on the couch with the Mr. right after writing my poem Lover’s Embrace about the tragic events in Bangladesh, which already had me in an emotional state. Or maybe it was the powerful performance of every actor in this film, young and old. Or maybe it was the compelling characters that moved me. Or maybe it was the fact that this incredible story is one families truth.
I think this movie should have a different rating though, something like this:
* WARNING!! if you want to cry for an hour and a half solidly watch this, if not put it back on the shelf!! *
This movie tells the tale of perseverance. The power of the human spirit. The strength of humanity. The kindness of strangers. The lengths that people will go to for the ones that they love and even more so for those that they don’t know.
I don’t think I have ever been more stirred. This movie and the way it makes you feel realized, aware of feelings and emotions that you didn’t know were possible, it pulls and tugs your spirit until you feel wrecked and uplifted in the end. It’s powerful.
This is the epitome of what I try to create with my poetry and writing. Whether I am successful or not is debatable but this movie reminded me of what I am trying to accomplish…..
The Impossible.
Jennifer
I have been considering watching this film and thanks to your review,I believe I will now. Thank you for sharing.
So glad to hear it. Just be sure that you have a box or two of tissues with you!
I will. : )
Just saw this myself on the big screen. What a powerful story. SO well done.
Hi Shandra,
Isn’t it though? I’m glad to hear that you liked as much as I did.
Take good care,
Jennifer
Sounds like one for a rainy day and lots of tissues. I’ll put it on my list. Thanks.
Let me know what you think after you watch it. 🙂
Sounds like it’s worth a try. I’ll add it to to my to-watch list. I also love eating popcorn – extra buttery or not. I just love it.
Mmmm popcorn. I think I might just have to make some now, with extra butter 😉
Sounds good…. :p
I think you’re turning the impossible possible. Nicely said. 🙂
Thank you Sahm. 🙂
Not a problem, Jennifer! 🙂
Haven’t seen this one but I’ll remember to look out for it now. 🙂
Yes, it;s so good. Let me know if you get a chance to see it.
Hi Jennifer 🙂 I can’t say that I am too much into movies, but definitely understand the pull to write!! I find that I communicate much better in writing that talking, and the feelings and imagery are a lot clearer. I have to compliment you on your poetry; I have never been able to do that. I appear more geared toward teaching and, of all things, children’s books!! It takes all types to make a world! 🙂
Thank you. I appreciate your kind words.
Children’s books are fantastic. I have a few poems and stories that I would like to turn into children’s stories.
What do you teach?
Great movie review. The film was advertised a lot but was very highly acclaimed. I love your review and will have to check this movie out now 🙂
Thank you. It’s the first time I’ve attempted one.
Let me know if you get a chance to watch it and what you think about it.
Oh and welcome to my blog 🙂
