A day at the Beach. A ‘Storetry’ Collaboration with my Word Press community. Stuff It Tuesdays with the Mrs. Join in!
Welcome to our first Stuff it Tuesday Collaboration! It was fun to see all of the writing and poems that people came up with and even more fun trying to make it into a fluid ‘storetry’. Quite the challenge. I had all of the entries laid out on my floor last night along with a glass of wine. There are so many talented people in our Word Press community.
I decided to add each persons blog link underneath their entry. This seemed to be the best way to keep track of each entry, so as you read, read past the links and then you can go back and check out people’s blogs when you have finished the ‘storetry’. I want to give a shout out to Valerie. She missed the deadline but also submitted this image so I included. I apologize for having to refuse some submissions. I had to set a time line so that I had time to put this all together. I hope you all understand and that you will contribute to next weeks ‘storetry’ which you will find at the end of this weeks collaboration.
I really hope you enjoy the collaboration.
Alright, enough from me. Happy reading.
A day at the beach with Word Press
ttp://tapestryiii.wordpress.com/
I have so many fond memories of days at the beach, packing up the car and spending days in the sun. I love being surrounded by the sand, water and the warm wind. But let me tell you I have many a story about my times at the beach!
My kite, my kite a flight in the sky
Flows on the wind as I sigh
Without much of a care. A wrist fall
Kite in thrall, unaware
It’s doom evident
In abundance of sand and sediment

Take for instance when Dillon became ill
And walking became a bitter pill
but still we went and sort of frolicked
Old familiar games, of fetch and throw
Until at last, it was time to go
How much I loved him you’ll never know

Fair brown hair in curling coils, tease the slightest breeze,
sweep a brow free of woe in Sunday bliss beside the sea.
Water’s blue and cresting swell foams white upon the beach,
with sneaking spread of bubbles pulls untended toys from reach.
Treasures spied by youthful eyes collected into piles,
but riches of this day are mine in every wondrous smile.

…I set my beach tent away from the crowds
sitting down to enjoy the waves and clouds.
Salt filled the air and seagulls cried,
the warmth of the sun made me feel so alive.
A curious sound got me up on my feet….
The beach is a unique place in that the allure of the sand and surf attracts people from almost every single walk of life. Here in the shadow of endless sea and sky every man and woman is equal, each of us a tiny part of a much larger whole. The lady of the sea with her fragrant mist and comforting embrace is a siren few can ignore I am but one of many who for centuries have come here to answer her call. So engrossed in her beauty I had been that I barely noticed a kindred spirit, in more ways than I could ever imagine, also falling victim to her charms.
Last summer in search of a new sunbathing (some times sun baking) spot, I saw a man resting on the sand, eyes fixated on a tree. I blinked twice as the man stood taller than the trees while he reached for a cluster of grapes. He must have noticed me, for after releasing the cluster from the branch, he turned to me and offered me half. It was during that summer I first tried sea grapes and was amused with the taste.

a trip never taken… imagined scenes replay
fingers interwoven, feet press between mine, lapped by the surf,
emulsion of saline and sand ripples fluid like piano keys… washing over our toes,
We watch the afternoon rain, inset like spoons, recessed between cold sheets…
Even though the trip was never taken,
It feels real…it lives in my memory…

We’d be husband and wife in a matter of time.

I remember that night you held my hand,
As we talked atop the sand;
You offered me your love and heart,
The kind of love that doesn’t part.
That fateful night up on the beach,
Taught me love wasn’t out of reach.

Such as it was when you were with me, lay by my side, sand upon our backs, water playing with of toes the sun above us in a sky of pure azure. Such bliss as was and ever will be, ever the sun upon my face, the cry of a distant gull, do I travel in mind and spirit back to that day, that moment when only we together and the beach did so exist in splendid isolation, nothing else mattered, I kissed you then, the first time, unstealable memory.

Could you see what fun there was to be had, creating worlds from sand, detailing lives from my own vision? How about challenging the sea and being swept away in the culmination of millions and millions of years of tears of our Mother’s joy, cradling me and tossing me to and fro? And what of just lying there upon the shore and staring into the face of forever, wondering at the immensity of horizon and sky and everything, rapt in the unknowable meaning and beauty of it all, and content know my place was just to Be?

So you see why the beach is such a wonderful place,
Filled with memories that I would never replace.
Moments in time where the sun beams dance
Times of my life,
When I took a chance.
In loving memory of

Good luck with this weeks challenge.
He ran across the road full speed, without taking notice of the cars swerving to avoid him, honking and yelling as he ran off. I can’t imagine what was running through his mind as he fled so fast but it must have been urgent.
Time is a precious gift

Looking for a different place to find inspiration? How about with Writings of A Mrs? She has a cool “storetry” collaboration going on every Tuesday with lots of different ways to participate. I have to say, it was fun to stretch my old teen-angst inspired poetry legs again. Check it out… and better yet… participate! Enjoy the read!
Thank you so much for the support. I really appreciate it. And keep participating! 😀

Love this idea.
Have you ever considered about including a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is fundamental and all.
But imagine if you added some great graphics or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with images and videos,
this site could definitely be one of the most
beneficial in its field. Awesome blog!
Wonderful website you have here but I was curious
if you knew of any community forums that cover the same
topics talked about in this article? I’d really like to be a part
of community where I can get comments from other knowledgeable people that share the same interest.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Appreciate it!
