A life lived for others, is the only life worth living.” Albert Einstein

Let’s call it Pay Day (please note there will be no monetary pay, only a hip-hip hooray)<– there’s your poetry for the day.

I would like to extend a hand to collaborate with people.

Do you write poetry?

Let’s have a poetry battle.  Or let’s write a duet.  Or let’s go line to line.  Or you give the idea, I write.  Or I give the idea, you write. Any other ideas?

Do you write?

Let’s write a short story together?  Have a dialogue exercise together?  Parenting ideas? Do a product review together?  Do a top ten list together?  I can guest blog?  You can guest blog?  I can do a review of your book. (Keep it short please!) Have an idea? Let’s try it.

Do you sing, write songs?

Let’s write a song together? (I’m not singing sorry people but you can!)

Are you a photographer?

Provide a photo. I can write a poem, short story, Inspiration in reference to it.  I can give you a topic to express through photography. Ideas?

Documentary?  Videos?

Shared ideas?  Poetry said to words?  I give a topic you present it? You submit a video I review it?

Humanitarian?

Let’s share your ideas, views, Mission.  Find a way to reach more people?

Do you have a new and cool product, recipe, tip that you want to put out there let’s find a way!  Ideas?

Your work and your rights to previously created material and works will always remain yours, just as mine will remain mine.

Shared collaboration on new poetry, writings, musings, short stories, videos etc. will be shared and can be discussed before hand.

So what’s in it for you?

That’s for you to decide.  The challenge, fun, exposure, sharing in my ‘traffic’ and followers and the different people that will have the opportunity to meet you and see what you have to ‘offer’ or what you want to share.

I will do a short interview that I will post about the person that I have collaborated with that week, along with the results of our collaboration and a link to your blog. (This is only for bloggers)

So what’s in it for me?

“I have a dream.” Martin Luther King Jr

I said in my About Me:

“I want to write. Not only about the things that come easily and naturally for me but I want to expand and broaden my areas of confidence when it comes to writing.  I have never given it time or attention.  I’m not sure how or about what or why but I feel pulled, drawn (that the universe is calling if you will), that it’s time to begin the journey.  It is my hope and dream that I get fulfillment from this mecca of mine.

I want to learn and grow as a writer.  I want to learn and grow as a listener.  I want to learn to engage the reader, stir the reader and most of all connect with the reader.

I care about community, volunteerism, education, knowledge and enlightenment.”

In my first Blog I said:

“Hopefully together we can walk away from this journey enlightened and successful or in the very least, better acquainted.”

I don’t have much but what I do have I want to share.

“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.” Mother Teresa

I mean what I say and I say what I mean.

“The only time you should look down at someone, is when you are helping them up.” Jesse Jackson

So Pay Day will happen on Thursdays.

I will let the person that I will be collaborating with know by the previous Thursday.  So we will have one week. (note: if you do not have time the week that I select please let me know so we do not let people down)

I am currently in my first collaboration with Ray the musical poet. http://themusicalpoet.wordpress.com/

He is writing the music and will be singing to my poem Gravy Baby! https://writingsofamrs.wordpress.com/2013/04/21/gravy-baby/

I gave him all the freedom to create it however it spoke to him.

I can’t wait to see what he comes up with.

If this idea interests you and you would like to participate please email me at writingsofamrs@outlook.com with Collaboration in the subject line.  Please share with me your vision, what you are about and what you would like to work on together. (and of course your blog address)

This is all possible because of you amazing people.  My blog has taken off WAY faster then I could ever have anticipated, I feel like I am tripping on myself trying to keep up.
Thank you for all of your comments, likes, follows, kind words and support.  The blogging community has been my favorite part of this journey so far!

What a fabulous, generous idea! I’d love to collaborate sometime on a poem – you obviously have lots of interest in this and my time at the moment is a bit chaotically limited, so maybe put me somewhere down the list for a later stage if you like. In the meantime I’ll enjoy readng the other collaborations you do! 🙂

I love this! I’m pregnant with my second but won’t be having a shower. Although my friend insists on throwing me a gender reveal party. So what a great substitute for cards. I’ll have to use this for my daughter too. And I love books so what a great way to inspire reading. I’m guilty of tossing cards in the recycling bin, I’ll have to do this in return. I hate wasting money on cards I usually stock up on tiny notecards that say ‘to’ and ‘from’
    Thanks!

I really love this idea and would love to either write a short story or poem (you can choose) with ideas you give me or a topic that interests you…let me know what you think! I look forward to hearing from you and writing something for this wonderful experiment! 🙂 Take care love!

I like this idea. We touch each other over the Internet — this seems like holding hands. There is so much interest in collaborating with you and you seem to be a generous person. I’m wondering whether or not you could expand the concept and set up a way for other people to connect creatively. Blessings, and thank you for stopping by.

How about a poetry collaboration, but not with our own words? Stated otherwise, each contributor gets one line, but has to draw it from a book of his or her choosing. Might provoke some interesting combinations and certainly much flinging-about of books in our respective domiciles.

Hey, love the pay it back attitude and also love collaborations! Would you have a look at the Feral Story on my site and write a bit of a review for me? Would love to do an interview too. And will be illustrating the feral state story in the studio between July and Nov. Maybe we could do some open studio collaborations? You could write some text or poetry to the images as I make them? Let me know what you think. Keep up the good work!

Hmm, 100+ comments…well, I’ll try to be heard anyway!
This is a pretty cool thing you’re doing, I’ll say that first. I looked through the list of collaborative efforts you’re willing to do and thought about some of the things I’m doing, wondering if there would be anything. I would love to guest post for you sometime, or you for me if you felt it appropriate.
But more than that, I’d love to sit at your feet and learn from you. I’m a fellow blogger trying to grow and develop, but I’m a little in the dark (pitch black, stubbed toes, it’s brutal). I would love to know how you do what you do, how you engage readers, how you grow a community. I’ve been able to attain followers, but not a community. I know this isn’t quite what you’ve asked for, but I thought I’d kindly ask because I believe that if you want to do what someone else is doing, sit down and ask them.
    Thanks!

I’m sure you are all “random acted” out but if you ever have time I have an adoption agency. We’re working hard to try to create a difference in adoption some new ideas and we want to let people know for adoption AND for support with our GAP Program (Grants for Adoption). Don’t worry if not – I think you’re doing an awesome thing here!!!

You seem a truly great blogger and I would really like to collaborate. Either I can work with you on a photo. I can take the shot and you could help with the words. That would be great. Or something to do with humanitarian issues wouldn’t be bad either.

    Hi Jennifer

Just reading and “feeling” your excitement filled me with so much excitement and put a giant smile on my face!! I love the idea of paying it forward, you are inspiring.

  18. Stuff Jeff Reads

Hey, thanks for liking my post earlier. Collaborative writing, huh? I do a lot of that at work. 😉 Might be cool to pick a poem, write our thoughts on it, and link to each others posts. Cheers!

  19. barbmca

Writing is a pleasure, my writing has been stored on my computer for a long time and someone told me I should share it and this is my first attempt at a blog and I am amazed at what has happened. I’ll share with some poetry if you like

  20. Holistic Wayfarer

Thanks for liking my piano tribute to Mom. Congratulations on such a successful site. I’m interested in guest-blogging but I feel that’s your call. I share some of your passions – in the arts, motherhood – with an eye on education. When you get the chance, I invite you to evaluate my writing. You might check out the TECHNOLOGY series (some parts are still recent posts)…I evaluate the impact of technology on learning. Feel free to respond at your convenience. Blessings. Diana

Ace, just realised I am the 200th person to like this! I love this idea and really enjoyed your recent collaboration (which I reblogged, I liked it so much). I have been really enjoying your poetry and would like to say that every time I see your ‘home page’ message about your ‘directionless journey’ you’re on makes me wonder if you should update it as I am sure that the other 199 people who liked this will agree (as well as the kersquillion others who like all your other posts) that your journey certainly has direction now; your writing is certainly heading somewhere good. I have always been a big believer in ‘pay it forward’ too. Bless you, keep smiling and keep writing, baldy 🙂

  22. Edgar Swamp

Thank you for liking my post! You certainly have caught people’s attention with your blog; more power to you! I would love to collaborate on anything, be it verse or poem or story. Love your idea of paying it forward. Great job with your blog and keep up the good work!

  23. joelghames

Thanks for stopping by Inner Organs (yeah, I know, it’s a terrible name, but every time I think of a better one it’s already taken. Big surprise, right?). Your platform for collaboration is a great idea, win-win for everyone involved and generous of you to open up your readership to other bloggers.

  24. kaycers

I am new to writing poetry. A shaman, in a not so subtle way, recommended that I try writing after I visited for a Native American journeying ritual. Needless to say I am excited but a bit overwhelmed. I appreciate that you read the first poem I have ever posted to my, or any, blog! I like your idea of collaborating. How do we get started?! 🙂

  25. Scott (aka Table97)

Would love to collaborate sometime! Great stuff here and I love a challenge as well.

  26. runninginwater

I would love to work with you! I am about to get my kid and am responding via phone. Don’t have clear ideas of how to work together, but am open to one you might have. I will continue to think!. I do all kinds of art, not just writing.

Ill get back to you soon,
    Diana Ray
